Smith, senior vice president of information systems and CIO for Advocate Health Care, to its board of directors. With more than 25 years of health IT experience, Mr. Smith brings a unique understanding of the technology challenges facing today's hospitals and health systems.

With a staff of 500 and an operating budget of $130 million, Mr. Smith's division supports a network of financial and clinical applications that have been integrated to share information throughout the Advocate system. Previously, Mr. Smith was Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Lutheran General HealthSystem. He began his career with Sears, where he became involved in the development of computer programs in the merchandising division.
Mr. Smith is a member of Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the HIMSS Chicago CIO Roundtable and the Scottsdale Institute, a healthcare executive resource for information management. He received his Bachelor of Business degree from Western Illinois University and his M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago.
Omnicell also acknowledged the contributions of director Donald Wegmiller, chairman emeritus of Integrated Healthcare Strategies, who is departing the board following ten years of service during a period of Omnicell's rapid growth. These changes to the Omnicell board are effective immediately prior to Omnicell's Annual Meeting of Stockholders.
