(NASDAQ:OMCL) today announced that The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), affiliated with the University of Toronto, has selected the Company's medication automation and safety solutions. Omnicell technology is designed to help ensure the highest level of medication security and safety, and reduce operational inefficiencies in patient care. Omnicell technology is intended to efficiently distribute, store and manage inventory of medications throughout the hospital. SickKids will be installing automated medication cabinets in the patient care areas and operating rooms, as well as a system to manage controlled substances in the central pharmacy. Omnicell solutions were selected after a thorough evaluation process that included on-site demos, visits to other hospital facilities and meetings with stakeholders and hospital leaders.
SickKids is a premier pediatric care center in Canada with a 285-bed facility dedicated to continually improving care for children. The Omnicell systems were developed to help enable nurses to save time on medication management tasks, so they can spend more time interacting with patients.
