Lipps, chairman, president and CEO of Omnicell, has joined the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing Board of Overseers. Organized in 1987 to assist in the fulfillment of the School's mission of teaching, research, community service and patient care, the board selected Lipps for his qualifications and passion for increasing efficiency in healthcare and improving patient safety.

Lipps founded Omnicell in 1992 after watching his newborn daughter endure a traumatic health experience and has since developed the company into a technology organization focused on patient safety with over $200 million in revenue.
For the first 10 years of Omnicell's existence, Mr. Lipps served as chairman of the board of directors and guided Omnicell on a path to success. In 1998, Omnicell was recognized as the number one company in Silicon Valley in the Deloitte and Touche Technology Fast 500 program. Under Mr. Lipps' guidance and leadership, Omnicell became a publicly traded company in August of 2001.
In October 2002, Mr. Lipps assumed the additional roles of president and chief executive officer and has since provided the leadership for Omnicell's growth in providing solutions to help increase patient safety.
Prior to founding Omnicell, Mr. Lipps was an industrial engineer at American Airlines. Mr. Lipps holds bachelor's degrees in economics and business administration from Southern Methodist University.
