MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnicell, Inc. (Nasdaq: OMCL), a leading provider of medication management solutions to healthcare facilities, today announced Saint Francis Health System has selected Omnicell as its primary vendor for automated medication and supply management solutions. Saint Francis decided to replace its current medication management vendor with Omnicell based on the predictable long-term cost of its solutions and the industry-leading technology it offers to healthcare providers.

Saint Francis Health System was recently recognized by HealthGrades as a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence™ in 2011 placing it among the top five percent of hospitals nationwide. The Oklahoma-based non-profit health system will install a variety of Omnicell solutions in their five acute care hospitals including the award-winning OmniRx® automated medication dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and anesthesia workstations to extend medication management features to its operating rooms.

Saint Francis will also use Omnicell's leading software solutions Anywhere RN™ and SinglePointe™ to provide clinicians more time to spend on direct patient care. Anywhere RN is a unique medication management solution that enables nurses to review and select medication orders from virtually any hospital workstation, increasing operational efficiencies and improving clinical outcomes for patients. SinglePointe proprietary software is an automated patient-specific medication management solution that revolutionizes the way medications are stored, managed and tracked, reducing the risk of medication errors while increasing staff efficiency. In addition, Omnicell's Optiflex™ supply solution will be used in the cath lab at the Heart Hospital at Saint Francis.

"As a state-of-the-art health system, we are committed to offering our patients the highest level of care," said Ron Kolar, director of pharmacy services at Saint Francis Health System. "Omnicell solutions will allow us to improve our long-term budgeting and cost planning while our clinicians will be able to access industry-defining technology. We are confident that implementing Omnicell's solutions will deliver a huge workflow improvement for pharmacy, nursing and the cath lab while improving patient safety and care."

"We are excited to be working with Saint Francis to equip its clinicians with the best medication and supply management tools for safe and effective patient care," said J. Christopher Drew, senior vice president, field operations for Omnicell. "Choosing to replace its existing technology with a wide range of Omnicell solutions demonstrates Saint Francis' confidence that Omnicell will keep the system current with its latest technology updates throughout the life expectancy of the medication and supply products."
